How to read this calculator
Type your active-subscriber count into the field above and the calculator shows Boostmail's monthly price next to Klaviyo's for the same list size, then tells you the difference. Boostmail's figure comes straight from its published subscriber tiers; Klaviyo's comes from its Shopify App Store listing, with the verification date shown beneath the result so you always know how current it is.
The numbers compare list to list, but the two platforms count and charge differently, and that difference is the whole story. Understanding it is the difference between a predictable bill and a surprise.
Two different pricing models
The headline numbers diverge because Boostmail and Klaviyo price on different things.
Boostmail, active subscribers, unlimited emails
Boostmail charges on the number of active subscribers, contacts who can currently receive your marketing. Unsubscribed and suppressed contacts do not count, and emails are unlimited on every paid tier. Your bill tracks the size of your reachable audience and nothing else, so a heavy sending month never produces an overage.
- Free up to 1,000 active subscribers
- Unlimited emails on paid tiers
- You pay for reach, not sends
Klaviyo, contacts, with sending limits
Klaviyo prices on the number of contacts in your account and pairs each tier with a monthly send allowance; exceeding it pushes you up a plan. Klaviyo's published Shopify App Store tiers start at a free plan for 250 contacts, then roughly $30/mo at 1,000, $150/mo at 10,000, and $720/mo at 50,000 contacts.

The practical upshot: because Boostmail does not charge for unsubscribed contacts or meter your sends, the price you see in the calculator is the price you pay, even in your busiest sending months.
Why subscriber-based pricing is usually cheaper
Every email list accumulates dead weight, people who unsubscribed, hard-bounced, or went cold. On a contact-priced plan you can end up paying for those contacts until you manually prune them. Boostmail's active-subscriber model excludes them automatically, so two stores with the same "list size" on paper can pay very different amounts. The store that is not paying for unreachable contacts is the one on subscriber-based pricing.
